Pak Thae Song, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and premier of the Cabinet of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, inspected various sectors of the national economy.
At the Pukchang Thermal Power Complex the premier stressed the need to perform the check-up and repair of generating equipment in a far-sighted way so as to normalize the production of electricity in winter and push ahead with the work to reinforce and perfect the heat insulation and dust collection systems of boilers and steam conduits in cooperation with scientific research units.
At the Namdok Youth Coal Mine of the Pukchang Area Youth Coal-mining Complex he met and encouraged coal miners who are bringing about good results every day through the patriotic movement for increased coal production. He underlined the need to give precedence to prospecting and tunnelling and, at the same time, to continue to increase coal production by raising the operating rate of equipment in coal faces.
Acquainting himself with the operation of the Sunchon Phosphatic Fertilizer Factory and the progress made in the construction project for establishing the C1 chemical industry, he stressed the need to rationally compose the processes and systems with the main emphasis on lowering the energy consumption to the maximum and take economic and technical measures to fully display the production capacity of the existing fertilizer and chemical factories.
At the Pyongyang Mining Machine Factory he noted that it is important for it to raise the production capacity and machining accuracy by putting spurs to the production of custom-built equipment and consolidating its scientific and technological force and production foundation and improve the quality of products.
The field consultative meetings discussed the issue of producing a large number of efficient coal mining equipment, the issue for relevant fields, including the metal and machine-building industries, and relevant units to supply in good time enough equipment and materials needed for increasing the production of electricity and coal, the issue of paying close attention to the living conditions of employees and others and took appropriate measures.
