During his visit to the Ryonpho Greenhouse Farm, he called on the farm to compete with the Jungphyong Greenhouse Farm in production so as to become a farm that brings substantial benefits to the people in South Hamgyong Province. When he visited the Sinuiju Cosmetics Factory, he pointed to the need to steadily intensify the research work to further improve the quality of its products and increase their variety while analytically comparing them with the Unhasu -brand cosmetics, urging it not to be content with the widespread popularity of its Pomhyanggi -brand cosmetics and great demand for them.

During his on-site guidance at the Songdowon General Foodstuff Factory, he heard from an official of the factory that they would compete with renowned food producers in the capital city, and said encouragingly that her resolve is good and it is music to his ears.

Once he told officials that every province, city and county should make competitive efforts to spruce up their own seats as suited to their regional conditions and characteristics so as to launch a vigorous campaign to facelift the regional towns.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Ragwon County Offshore Farm in South Hamgyong Province built on the coast of the East Sea of Korea in late August this year, he stressed that the offshore farms in the city of Sinpho and Ragwon County in the province should help and learn from each other and seek sustainable innovation amid a wave of socialist emulation drive.

Under his leadership a wave of competition is spreading across the board, involving industrial establishments in major economic sectors, power transmission and supply units, pomicultural farms, newly built regional-industry factories for normalized production, and agricultural counties and farms for becoming top counties and farms.

A wide array of shows and exhibitions, including those for advanced science and technology and their products, consumer goods, sci-tech achievements in the public health sector and IT hits, prove the vitality of the socialist emulation drive.

Every sector and unit work hard to overtake, learn from and share experience with one another in pursuit of innovation and development and broader participation in mass competition, playing their part in stepping up the comprehensive development of the country.
