The construction of the third-stage 10 000 flats in the Hwasong area was completed last April and the fourth-stage project is now in full swing.

Therefore, the Hwasong area is going through a complete transformation.

In the architectural group of Hwasong Street which was built in the first stage, twin-tower buildings in a distinctive style were placed as iconic buildings and a Korean-style building in the focal position, thus ensuring depth in street formation and combining modernity with national identity.

Especially, the roofs of buildings are structured in various forms, such as horned and winged roofs.

Rimhung Street, built in the second stage, embodies the land-saving mode of city formation and it is characteristic in that modern high-rise apartment houses and skyscrapers amounting to 10 000 flats are placed in a compact formation within the area nearly half the dimensions of the first stage.

In particular, the vivid colour contrast provided by combining dark and bright colours adds weight and elegance to the buildings and the service networks on the low floors of the buildings are linked to each other to sustain the solidity of the whole street.

Green turf, trees of good species and flower beds in various forms present a beautiful landscape on the street and the illuminations are well balanced.

The land-saving mode of city formation used in Rimhung Street was applied again in the third-stage 10 000 flats project in the Hwasong area in laying out the high-rise apartment houses and skyscrapers in a compact way, but the structure is more refined.

Landmark buildings and high-rise apartment houses are placed in a concentrated way in the centre of the main street, the surrounding buildings were built in different heights and the roads stretch out straight to facilitate traffic, so that the whole block is organically combined.

The apartment houses and public and service facilities are harmoniously situated avoiding repetition in the architectural style, and schools are located in the areas favourable for commute.

Especially, modern service networks, including commercial and public catering establishments with strong symbolic character and technical and amusement facilities, add peculiarity to the area.

Outdoor benches, exercise equipment and flower beds in various forms were newly arranged to go well with the surrounding environment.

The radical transformation of the Hwasong area was brought about by the wise guidance of the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un.

He gave guidance for thousands of street formation plans for the Hwasong area and visited the area several times to give instructions on the construction. He also attended the groundbreaking and inauguration ceremonies to encourage the builders and congratulate the working people moving into the new flats.

Today, the Hwasong area is turning into a model in the distribution of city components in the capital, a beautiful and modern urban block where the architectural formative and artistic qualities and advanced civilization are harmoniously amalgamated.
