Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, received a reply message from Thongloun Sisoulith, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and president of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, on December 31 2025.
The reply message said:
Respected Comrade,
I express heartfelt thanks to you, on behalf of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the government and the Lao people and on my own behalf, for sending warm congratulations and best wishes to me and the Lao people on the occasion of the 50th founding anniversary of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
The meeting with you held in Pyongyang in early October 2025 marked an important milestone in developing the cooperative relations between our two countries more deeply and broadly, and I still have deep impression and beautiful memories of it.
I firmly believe that the traditional friendly relations and close cooperation between the Lao People's Democratic Republic and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea would continue to develop thanks to the joint efforts of both sides in the future, too, thus bringing substantial benefits to the peoples of the two countries and contributing to regional and global peace, stability, cooperation and development.
I wish you good health, happiness and success in your noble work and the close Korean people happiness and prosperity at all times in the New Year 2026.
