Many countries are making competitive researches for enhancing efficacy of medicines along with the constant development of medical science.
Scientists at the Pharmacological Institute under the Academy of Medical Science are directing big efforts to glorifying this significant year, when the Ninth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea was held, with greater achievements in their research.
Section Chief Mun Won Chol said sustained release drugs are of important significance in clinical practice, and continued:
"We are engaged in researches for making sustained release drugs with long duration of action and less number of use.
In recent years we've developed medicines which are efficacious for the treatment of influenza and its aftereffects, which were highly estimated at national exhibitions of public health successes."
Researchers of the institute have conducted researches for several years to make sustained release drugs suited to the constitutional features of the people and thus contribute to improving their health.
They made a detailed analysis of the pharmacologically active ingredients and found new making conditions for extracting necessary medicinal ingredients to maximize their efficacy.
On this basis, they further intensified research and experiment to eliminate side effects while extending the action time of medicines.
In the course of repeated experiments, they drew lessons and accumulated experience, looking for the most reasonable way in close contact with relevant units.
Finally, they established a new manufacturing method and succeeded in making sustained release drugs efficacious for the treatment of respiratory diseases and hypertension, including wormwood and betony elastic capsules for cold.
The new medicines not only had a longer duration of action and a more remarkable effect than the previous ones in the clinical practice, but also showed no side effects such as digestive or circulatory disorders.
They are now highly appreciated by medical workers and people.
"We intend to develop efficacious medicines badly needed in public health services, including new painkillers which have quick effect and are easy to use."
The researchers of the institute are further intensifying the research for increasing the variety of sustained release drugs conducive to the protection of the people's health and enhancing their efficacy.
