Architecture for Sake of People

On March １５, ２０２２, the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un inspected the construction site of １０ ０００ flats in the Songsin and Songhwa areas nearing completion.

He said that the core in the construction is to preserve the country’s distinct character by maintaining the Juche character and national identity and thoroughly embody the people-first principle.

He continued that top priority should be given to ensuring people’s convenience in building even one structure or street and that the main in the Juche-oriented architecture is ensuring convenience of people in relevant regions.

Indeed, the General Secretary perfects even one building prioritizing people’s convenience.

As it embodied the Party’s climate of devoting to people going through thick and thin, our architecture is shining as the one giving top priority to people’s convenience and interests and aspiring for the best quality.

Edifices erected on this land are people’s assets without an equal in the world which reflect the ever-increasing happiness of our people.

In Fresher and More Peculiar Way

The respected General Secretary who steadily aspires for the new and development while leading every grand construction project paid special attention to the issue of ridding designers of their stereotypical way of thinking.

In August ２０２４, the General Secretary, going round the construction site of regional-industry factories in Hamju County, pointed out that some designers were drawing designs of regional-industry factories uniformly.

Then he said that what designers should guard against most in building new structures is empiricism and that they should establish the viewpoint of always creating the new.

It was, indeed, a meaningful instruction that clearly taught designers what is criterion for their thinking and practice and made the people keenly realize once again the world of unique and rare creation of the General Secretary who intends to provide our people with wonderful creations of the ever-developing Juche-oriented architecture.

To Be Impeccable Even in Distant Future

A few years ago, the respected General Secretary inspected the construction site for １０ ０００ flats at the second stage in the Hwasong area nearing completion.

That day he paid deep attention to the issue of ensuring perfection of structures.

He toured different places of the construction site, learning in detail about the project. Then he stressed the need to qualitatively and perfectly finish the final process with a goal to complete the housing construction at the highest level, impeccable even in the distant future, as it is the most important undertaking for providing the people with beautiful cradle of happiness.

Thanks to the noble intention of the respected General Secretary to turn the country better into the cradle of the socialist civilization and amazing paradise for the people and bequeath it to the posterity, precious edifices which will serve as bases for the growth of economic potential and development of civilization and prosperity of the country even after fifty years, nay one hundred years, are mushrooming on this land.

Viability of Juche-oriented Architecture

The respected General Secretary, in his work "Let Us Lead the Development of Civilization of Our Own Style of Socialism by Waging a New Revolution in Construction", clarified as follows:

It should be a consistent policy to make the architectural structures bear a visual expression of the principle of regarding our Party, our ideology, our system and our nation as the best; this can be done by, for instance, displaying political slogans or catchphrases on them. All the structures we build should be lively ones that fully embody the Juche- and people-oriented characters unique to our Party and state, our national traits, the people’s aspirations and emotions and the dignity and mettle of our great powerful nation.

It is, indeed, an important instruction clearly indicating which direction we should take in steadily developing the Juche-oriented architecture.

People possessed of such a happy cradle firmly cherished as a spiritual pillar and precious assets adding to the revolutionary and patriotic zeal for struggle do not vacillate in any adversity.
