DPRK players are achieving good results in the 2026 Asian Weightlifting Championships every day.
They won seven gold medals and set new world and Asian records in succession on May 14.
In the women's 63kg category, Ri Suk won gold medals in clean and jerk and total and a silver medal in snatch by lifting 111kg in snatch, 143kg in clean and jerk (new world record, new Asian record) and 254kg in total (new world record, new Asian record).
In the men's 71kg category, Ri Won Ju was placed first in clean and jerk and total and second in snatch by lifting 154kg in snatch, 197kg in clean and jerk (new world record, new Asian record) and 351kg in total (new world record, new Asian record).
In the men's 79kg category, Ri Ryong Hyon bagged gold medals by lifting 206kg in clean and jerk (new world record, new Asian record) and 364kg in total and a silver medal in snatch. In the same category, Ri Chong Song received a gold medal by lifting 161kg in snatch and silver medals in clean and jerk and total respectively.
