The Rangnang Branch of the Tobacco Cessation Centre offers a variety of services such as consultation, treatment and sale of anti-smoking products to the people who want or try to quit smoking.
The branch has introduced a bio-quantum resonance diagnostic device to put smoking cessation services on a scientific footing.
The device senses the electromagnetic wave emitted by the human body to make a prompt and correct evaluation of latent or progressive diseases caused by firsthand and secondhand smoking, as well as nutritional conditions.
The graphic display of possible diseases of each internal organ and the contents of calcium, vitamins and protein in the body—in a minute of examination—makes the viewers urgently feel the necessity to quit smoking.
A man said that he could have a better understanding of the risks of secondhand smoking, adding that he would quit smoking for his newborn baby. Later he became a regular visitor to the centre.
The branch also applies psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy and kinesitherapy according to the visitors’ occupations, ages, lifestyles, diseases and other factors.
The tobacco cessation nutrition pill served by the branch is one of the popular health foods made with natural medicinal herbs including Kaesong Koryo insam, a speciality of the DPRK. It is effective in relieving coughing, loosening phlegm and improving lung and liver functions.
With the help of the branch, some heavy smokers have ceased to smoke.
The branch puts up non-smoking signs and posters in commercial and catering establishments and other public places.
Every year it tours around industrial establishments and institutions to survey smoking rate, examine possible diseases and conduct anti-smoking information activities as part of its efforts to raise cessation rate.
May 31 is World No Tobacco Day.
