Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- The Korean people, with deep emotion, are looking back upon the revolutionary life of Kim Chol Ju, an indomitable revolutionary fighter, who devoted himself to the struggle for the liberation of the country.
He was born in Mangyongdae-dong, Mangyongdae District, Pyongyang (then Nam-ri, Kophyong sub-county, Taedong County, South Phyongan Province) on June 12, Juche5 (1916) as the second son of Kim Hyong Jik, an outstanding leader of the anti-Japanese national liberation movement in Korea, and Kang Pan Sok, an outstanding leader of the Korean women's movement.
He, who left Mangyongdae in his early years along with his parents, spent his childhood full of vicissitudes at Kangdong of Korea, Linjiang, Badaogou, Fusong and Antu of China, experiencing the distress and misfortune of a ruined nation.
Under the meticulous guidance and warm care of President Kim Il Sung, his elder brother, he acquired the truth of the revolution and grew up to be a true revolutionary who was possessed of indomitable fighting spirit, firm will, lofty personality and virtues.
He became a core member of the Saenal Childrenfs Union, the first childrenfs revolutionary organization in Korea organized by the President and took an active part in art performances for educating and enlightening popular masses and in the publication and distribution of the newspaper gSaenalh.
He joined the Young Communist League in 1929. He solidly built up and expanded the YCL organizations in different areas and trained young people through the revolutionary struggle against the Japanese imperialists.
True to the teachings of the President, he made a distinguished service to carrying the line of united front into practice under the banner of the anti-Japanese joint front and to strengthening the mass foundation of the anti-Japanese armed struggle.
He displayed self-sacrificing spirit and bravery in many battles and died a heroic death in an unexpected engagement with Japanese imperialist troops in June 1935.
Indeed, his life was a brilliant life dedicated to the cause of the liberation and freedom of the nation and the revolutionary cause of the working-class.
