Pyongyang, December 18 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave field guidance to the machine plant managed by Ri Jong Ok.
He went round various places of the plant to learn in detail about the technological updating and production there.
He highly praised the workers of the plant for having made a leaping advance in the manufacture of machines by actively pushing forward the modernization and scientification as required by the age of information industry.
The plant has concentrated efforts on the technological updating true to the WPK's idea of attaching importance to science, making it possible to significantly improve the quality of machines and boosting their quantity while cutting down huge manpower and ensuring cultured practices in production and life on a high level, he said, adding that this stirring reality noticeable at the plant strikingly demonstrates the validity and great vitality of the policy of the technical revolution consistently pursued by the WPK.
Noting that if all the domains of the national economy realize the modernization and scientification based on the latest science and technology just as this plant did, while steadily strengthening its Juche character, it is possible to give full play to the advantages and vitality of the independent national economy in all aspects, he stressed the need for them to follow the example of the plant in order to bring about a revolutionary turn in the technological updating.
Then he acquainted himself with the supply service for the workers, going round a dining hall, a bath house, a library, an information service room and other cultural and supply service facilities kept neat and tidy in the production site of the factory.
The officials of the factory have brought about such signal turn through ceaseless thinking, inquiry and persevering efforts to provide better living conditions to the workers in charge of production, he said, adding that the experience gained by the factory proves the great truth of the teaching given by President Kim Il Sung that the supply service precisely means a political work.
He had a photo session with the technicians and labor innovators of the factory.
He was accompanied by Pak To Chun, chief secretary of the Jagang Provincial Committee of the WPK, Jang Song Thaek, department director of the C.C., WPK, Ju Kyu Chang and Ri Je Gang, first vice department directors of the same, and KPA Generals Hyon Chol Hae and Ri Myong Su.
