Pyongyang, January 5 (KCNA) -- The Kim Jong Thae Electric Locomotive Complex in the DPRK has developed an asynchronous locomotive of the latest style.
The locomotive, called Songun Red Flag No. 1, is lower in electricity consumption, larger in output and better in operation system and traction than other kinds of locomotives.
The developers of the new locomotive have invented a high-capacity asynchronous motor, self-steering bogie, high-speed compressor, various kinds of converters and electric apparatuses and established a computer control system.
They have also made an asynchronous electric tractor, auxiliary gearing and running gear.
The new locomotive has proved successful in test run.
Its development is a step forward in putting the country's railway transport on a scientific and technological basis.
