Pyongyang, July 22 (KCNA) -- People of all strata in Pyongyang today warmly welcomed a south Korean Han Kyong Son who has come over to the northern half of Korea via a third country some time ago.
Hailing from Kongju city, South Chungchong Province, he (36) worked as a boilerman at a hotel in Taejon city before defecting.
He was awarded an order of the DPRK and a money prize and presented with a souvenir at a meeting.
In his welcome address sin an bang, Vice-Chairman of the Pyongyang Municipal Administrative and Economic Committee, said that the defection of Han Kyong Son is a due resistance against the Kim Young Sam group that have turned south Korea into a living hell with the anti-national, anti-social misrule and irregularities and against the reactionary south Korean social system and a very righteous deed to aspire after justice and enjoy an independent life.
In his reply Han Kyong Son said that he, who groaned in hardships and tribulations under all manner of maltreatment and contempt in south Korea, is leading a life worthy of man in the DPRK for the first time in his life.
The people in the south, saying that it is Secretary Kim Jong Il who can lead and save the Korean nation, are upholding him as a peerless brilliant commander and a great man produced by heaven who was born on Mt. Paektu and is defending and exalting the dignity of the Korean nation with the resourcefulness and spirit of Mt. Paektu, he said.
He renewed his determination to devote his all to the building of the socialist country and the sacred cause of national reunification in order to faithfully repay the benevolence of Secretary Kim Jong Il who gave him a new life.
