Pyongyang, December 22 (KCNA) -- Yun Song Sik (61), who had been active for South Korean dissident democratic movement for scores of years, came over to the northern half of Korea some days ago.
Born in Posong county, south Jolla Province, he actively strived for democratization of South Korean society and national reunification as a member of the central executive committee of the "Social People's Party", a member of the committee for deliberating reunification proposals of the "central council for national independence and reunification," director of the "April Revolution Institute" and an inspector of the "supporters' association of the national council of bereaved families for democratic movement," dissident democratic movement organizations.
On the motive of his defection, he said he has come to the north with a determination to make worthwhile contributions to the struggle for national reunification under the politics of the northern half of Korea.
"I have worked hard for scores of years in my own way for justice and progress, democracy and reunification in the south. But they cannot be realized under the present regime styling itself the 'government for the people' as well as under the military fascist regimes," he said, noting it is because there is no soul of the nation, the spirit of independence, in the south.
