Total abolition of "security law" urged

Pyongyang, November 5 (KCNA) -- Yun Song Sik, permanent member of the Consultative Council of Former South Korean Politicians in the North for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification, answered a question put by KCNA on November 4 as regards the South Korean authorities' loud-mouthed revision of the anti-reunification "security law".
Their advertisement about the "revision" of the law is an unpardonable mockery of the people and public opinion calling for its total abolition, he said, and went on:
This law can no longer exist and, accordingly, it must be repealed unconditionally and immediately.
Its most anti-national character of the "security law" is that it defines the fellow countrymen in the north as the "enemy" and binds the South Korean people hand and foot by branding all their aspirations for reunification as "enemy-benefiting." If it is not abolished, cooperation, reconciliation and dialogue between the north and the south cannot be smooth.
Now that the call for national reunification has become an irresistible trend of the times, the law must be repealed as soon as possible and all the pro-reunification patriotic figures who are under detention on charges of violating it should be released without delay.
Many pro-reunification patriotic figures fell victim to this law. Nevertheless, the "people's government" is going to use this law as a means of blocking reunification under the cloak of "revision". This clearly discloses the "people's government's" anti-reunification, treacherous nature.
The "people's government" intends to use the "security law" for its "security" as former "governments" did. But the history will severely punish it as it did the successive fascist dictators.
