Pyongyang, October 2 (KCNA) -- The Meeting of Officials in the Field of Post and Telecommunications was held in Pyongyang on Wednesday.
The meeting reviewed the successes and experience gained in carrying out the tasks set forth in leader Kim Jong Il's famous work "Let Us More Dynamically Speed Up the Modernization of Post and Telecommunications" and discussed tasks and ways to bring the post and telecommunications up to the world's level to meet the requirements of the new century and thus contribute to the building of a great prosperous powerful socialist nation.
Present there were Premier of the DPRK Cabinet Pak Pong Ju, Minister of People's Security Choe Ryong Su and others.
Secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea Han Song Ryong read out a congratulatory message to the participants in the meeting from the C.C. WPK.
The message said that the workers and officials in the field of post and telecommunications devoted themselves to fully ensuring the unitary leadership of the WPK over the revolution and construction by reliably providing command communications of the party and the state. And they have steadily improved the communications and broadcasting service, thus positively contributing to raising the ideological and cultural level of the people and promoting convenience in their life, it noted.
It called on them to modernize the communications and broadcasting facilities as required by the drive to build a great prosperous powerful nation guided by the Party's idea of building the Juche-based socialist post and telecommunications to bring them to the world's level at an early date.
Then Minister of Post and Telecommunications Ri Kum Bom made a report to be followed by speeches.
They referred to practical matters of fully realizing the link-up of the television station with a satellite and actively introducing modern broadcasting technology including digital broadcasting technology through the sustained efforts to modernize post and telecommunications.
