Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, first chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and supreme commander of the Korean People’s Army, gave an order on December 15 2015 on behalf of the WPK to conduct the test of a hydrogen bomb, the first of its kind for Juche Korea, and put his signature on the document of final order on January 3 2016.

The DPRK government issued a statement on January 6 as to the test of the thermonuclear bomb that was conducted in line with the WPK’s strategic decision. The following is the full text of the statement:

A megaevent, which will mark a landmark in the country’s multi-millennial history, has taken place at a time when all the service personnel and people are out for the general offensive campaign, in hearty response to the clarion call of the WPK, to bring earlier the final victory of the cause of the Juche revolution, making enormous strides by registering brilliant results almost every day.

According to the WPK’s strategic decision, the DPRK carried out its first hydrogen bomb test successfully at 10:00 on January 6.

This test, which relies on local wisdom, technology and effort 100 percent, has fully confirmed the accuracy of the newly developed pilot H-bomb’s specifications and it has also given scientific explanations of the power of the mini H-bomb.

The safe and perfect test proved to have had no negative effect on the surrounding ecosystem.

The test indicates the DPRK’s nuclear arms have reached a higher stage of their development.

The picture-perfect test will place the DPRK on a par with nuclear-weapons states that possess H-bombs as well, and it will also help the Korean people to raise their profile as a dignified nation boasting the most powerful nuclear deterrent.

The test is a self-defensive measure to safeguard the DPRK’s sovereignty and the right to national existence from the ever-increasing nuclear threats and blackmail of the US-led enemies and guarantee peace on the Korean peninsula and regional security in a reliable way.

Since the word “hostility” appeared, no hostility has been more deep-seated, outrageous and tenacious than the US hostility towards the DPRK.

The US has imposed unprecedentedly harsh political isolation, economic blockade and military oppression on the DPRK for the reason that the latter seeks different ideology and system and does not succumb to its aggressive ambition. Not satisfied with this, the group of gangsters is hell-bent on bringing nuclear calamity to the Korean people.

The Korean peninsula and its vicinity, where nuclear-powered carrier strike groups, nuclear strategic air corps and all the other US nuclear strike mechanisms are deployed on a constant basis, are the world’s number one hot spot and tinderbox of nuclear war.

The US is making every possible attempt to check the DPRK’s efforts to build a thriving nation and improve its people’s living standards and to topple its system, rallying hostile forces to impose all sorts of economic sanctions on it and accuse it over the fictitious “human rights situation”.

It is the legitimate right of a sovereign state and an indisputably fair measure that the DPRK has developed the H-bomb of justice to confront the US, ringleader of aggression which keeps aiming a great deal of nuclear weapons at the DPRK.

Genuine peace and security do not come from any humiliating request nor at the negotiating table.

The current stark reality illustrates again that you should defend your destiny by yourself.

Nothing will be more foolish than to lay down a hunting gun as a herd of wolves are attacking.

The brilliant success in the H-bomb test is a landmark event of national significance that guarantees even the nation’s distant future.

The DPRK is a true peace-loving state which has committed itself to maintaining peace on the Korean peninsula and regional security against the US sinister scheme for nuclear war.

As a responsible nuclear state, the DPRK will not use nuclear weapons first unless the aggressive hostile forces violate its sovereignty, nor transfer related means and technology in any case, as already declared.

As long as the US clings to its heinous anti-DPRK policy, the DPRK will never stop its nuclear programme nor abandon its nukes.

The Korean army and people will steadily build up their nuclear deterrent of justice that guarantees the far distant future of the cause of the Juche revolution—qualitatively and quantitatively.

Juche Korea, which advances upholding the WPK’s line of promoting the two fronts in parallel, will grow prosperous forever.
