When generating 1 kW of electricity, a wind power plant has negative effect on the environment five and ten times less than gas and nuclear power plants respectively.
India, Brazil, Ethiopia, Germany and many other countries are building wind power stations as part of the efforts to raise the rate of electricity production with wind energy in total power output.
According to information available, the world’s wind power installed capacity reached 432.42 million kW last year, or 17 percent up as compared to 2014, whereas its atomic power generation was 382.55 million kW as of January 1 this year, or about 50 million kW less than the former. This means the global wind power generating capacity surpassed that of nuclear power for the first time in 2015.
In keeping with the zeal for the use of wind energy, scientific research is being pressed ahead.
Researchers developed a new generation of wind turbine for urban use which is convenient to install on the roofs.
This turbine produces little noise and automatically turns to the optimal wind direction to raise the efficiency of energy production to the maximum. And solar panel can be linked to it so as to generate electricity with wind energy or solar energy.
Meanwhile, new types of wind-driven generators are under development and experiment. They include a small one that produces electricity with gentle wind, the one that floats in the sea or lake and the one in the air fixed to the ground by one or more ropes.
The eco-friendly efforts to use the inexhaustible source of wind energy are arousing growing interest worldwide.
