Supreme leader Kim Jong Un visited the Paektusan Institute of Architecture.
He was accompanied by Ma Won Chun, director of the Design Department of the State Affairs Commission.
Under the wise guidance of Chairman Kim Jong Il, the institute has developed into an established centre of design and research that wonderfully draws up plans for any construction projects assigned by the Party and competently resolves scientific and technical problems arising in the architectural practice, Kim Jong Un said as he looked round the halls dedicated to education with revolutionary relics, preservation of them and the history of the institute.
He specified tasks to be tackled by the institute, making the rounds of the sci-tech hits exhibition hall, design research room, data research room and other places.
Designers, architects and researchers should reject similarity and repetition in design and work to build more and better buildings—healthy, green, zero-energy, zero-carbon and multifunctional, he said.
The institute, he noted, should make great efforts to raise the rate of domestic finishing building materials as much as possible, ensure variety of building materials in terms of shape, kind and colour, break new ground for architecture, help the designers and architects build their capacity, and establish a larger database of world architectural material.
He pointed to the need to update the means of designing, and said the Party would ensure latest computers and other modern means of designing are supplied to the institute.
He lavished praise on the designers, architects and researchers who have designed lots of landmark buildings of national treasure value at top levels by embodying the Party’s idea of architecture and aesthetics, and had a photograph taken with them.
