One of the DPRK’s neighbours recently announced that it would take “necessary steps” and do an “about-face” in the approach towards the DPRK over its self-defensive countermeasures, in a thinly veiled threat to the latter. But it keeps mum about the US’ provocative moves of driving the situation to the brink of war by deploying an unprecedentedly huge amount of strategic assets in the Korean peninsula waters.
Notably, it claimed that the DPRK would not bear its economic sanctions and it should reflect on how important bilateral relations are, adding that they could ensure peace to the DPRK and provide it with needs for economic prosperity.
On April 18, one of its public media asserted that the DPRK’s nuclear and missile programme has resulted in making the US a collaborator from a rival in the past.
If then, the question is how the DPRK will have to call it and how to treat it from now on.
The DPRK’s self-defensive nuclear deterrent is not a bargain to swap with something.
The Korean people and service personnel have tightened their belt to build the deterrent in order to defend the country’s sovereignty and right to existence. Despite living under economic embargo for decades, they have got along by their own efforts and advanced along the road chosen by themselves.
The current reality which is governed by the law of jungle brings home to the DPRK such a hard fact that you should believe only in your own strength and you can live on only when relying on self-reliance and self-development.
If they misunderstand the DPRK’s will and cling to economic sanctions while keeping dancing to the tune of others, they might receive applause from the DPRK’s enemies but it will also have to be ready for the catastrophic consequences for bilateral ties.
The DPRK will safeguard its dignity and build a people’s paradise by its own efforts, firmly united around Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un.
