Pyongyang, September 21 (KCNA) -- Recently, the assertion is raised in the international arena that the cause of escalating tension on the Korean peninsula should be rooted out and a right solution to the issue sought.
Experts and public opinions in different countries assert in chorus that the development of nuclear weapon in the DPRK, exposed to the constant threat of the U.S., can be interpreted as a wise option.
Minju Joson on Thursday says in a commentary that the U.S. is entirely to blame for the periodic tension on the Korean peninsula, which has now reached the alarming phase, just as the fair world opinion claims.
If the U.S. hadn't occupied the half of Korea and hadn't threatened the DPRK with nukes for several decades, the nuclear issue on the Korean peninsula shouldn't have spawned and the situation shouldn't have reached such an alarming phase as today, the commentary says, and goes on:
The U.S. vicious hostile policy toward the DPRK, which has lasted for decades, made the latter to make a crucial decision to protect the safety of the country and the nation and its sovereignty, and it is the historical cause of pushing the DPRK to rapidly bolster up its nuclear force.
If the UN, whose main mission is to preserve world peace and security, is to work in conformity with its duty, it should naturally fault the U.S. that spawned the nuclear issue on the Korean peninsula and is driving the situation into an extreme phase.
In order to defuse the tension on the Korean peninsula and maintain peace and stability in the region, the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK and its moves for igniting a nuclear war should be put to an end.
Steadfast are the stand and will of the Party and government of the DPRK to reliably guarantee the country's sovereignty and security by its own efforts.
We will continue its dynamic march along the road of simultaneously developing the two fronts no matter what others may say and will never put on the negotiating table the precious nuclear strategic assets prepared by tightening our belts. -0-
