Pyongyang, May 29 (KCNA) -- The U.S. Department of Defence and the White House vociferate that the U.S.-south Korea joint military exercises are "defensive" ones, the "annual" joint military drills would continue and their scale would not be reduced.
Meanwhile, American policy makers spit out unreasonable remarks, unsuited to the atmosphere of dialogue, that the military option on the DPRK has never been ruled out and that there will be no guarantee of the social system if the DPRK does not give up nukes.
Such provocative remarks are intolerable mockery of the dialogue partner.
Rodong Sinmun Tuesday says this in a commentary.
The U.S. maneuvers which have been conducted in south Korea every year are the root cause of disturbing the peace and stability on the Korean peninsula as they are staged under the simulated conditions of a preemptive attack and total war against the DPRK without exception, the commentary says, and goes on:
When the DPRK and the U.S. are coming for face-to-face dialogue with the will to solve the pending issues, it is unnecessary for the U.S. to stage the joint military exercises, the main root cause of aggravating tension and bringing nuclear war to the Korean peninsula, together with south Korea.
At present the issue of the joint military exercises serves as a touchstone showing whether the U.S. wants peace or pursues war.
The world people say that the U.S. persists in staging the joint military drills as it does not hope for the detente on the Korean peninsula and has no interest in reconciliation with the DPRK.
If the U.S. sincerely hopes for the talks, it should stop the acts of threatening its dialogue partner by force.
It is high time the U.S. behaved properly, clearly seeing what is profitable for it. -0-
