Pyongyang, September 9 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, received Valentina Ivanovna Matvienko, chairwoman of the Russian Federation Council, at the office building of the WPK Central Committee on Saturday.

Supreme Leader of our party, state and army Kim Jong Un kindly greeted the chairwoman, warmly welcoming the chairwoman on her visit to the DPRK to join the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the DPRK.

After exchanging warm greetings with her, Kim Jong Un had a photo taken and held a friendly talk.

The chairwoman expressed thanks to Kim Jong Un for sparing his precious time and securing the special place with deep concern for her schedule of stay, although he was busy.

She courteously conveyed the warm greetings and personal letter of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to Kim Jong Un.

She extended heart-felt warm congratulations and best wishes to Kim Jong Un and the friendly Korean people in the name of President Putin and the Russian people on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the DPRK, saying that she deems it great honor to visit the DPRK upon authorization of the President and to take part in the significant celebration events on behalf of Russia.

Kim Jong Un expressed deep gratitude to Putin for sending greetings and wonderful personal letter on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the DPRK, and conveyed warm greetings of the party, government and people of the DPRK toward the President and the people of Russia.

Kim Jong Un warmly welcomed her Pyongyang visit once again and expressed thanks to the Russian leadership for sending the delegation of the Russian Federation Council to the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the DPRK.

Talking to the chairwoman of the Russian Federation Council, Kim Jong Un listened to the inner thoughts and stand of the Russian leadership on the situation on the Korean peninsula and the region, exchanged broad views for the stable development of the situation and shared views for the two countries to closely cooperate and keep pace in defending lasting and stable peace and security on the peninsula and the world.

Also expressed at the talks were the stand and will of the supreme leadership of the two countries to invariably maintain and develop in a sustained and constructive way the strategic and traditional DPRK-Russia friendly relations provided by the leaders of the elder generation, keep close and expand and develop the overall bilateral relations including cooperation between the two parliaments.

Kim Jong Un expressed his pleasure over the wonderful talk with the chairwoman of the Russian Federation Council and wished her pleasant time during her stay in the country.
