Pyongyang Disabled Persons Perform in Britain, France

Pyongyang, March 15 (KCNA) -- A Pyongyang exchange group of disabled persons gave performances in Britain and France from Feb. 20 to Mar. 2.

Put on the stage were Korean art pieces like "Song of Sea", "Pyongyang Nalpharam", "Arirang" and "Dance of Fans", foreign art pieces and world famous music.

The performers vividly portrayed through instrumental music, songs and dances how they bring into full bloom their artistic talents under the policy of socialist Korea on looking after the disabled.

The audience was deeply impressed to see those with visual and hearing impediment and the physically crippled people singing and dancing while playing accordion and kayagum as good as professionals.

After the performances the audience gave bouquets to the performers and congratulated them on their successful performances while having photos taken and talking with the disabled.

A professor of Oxford University said that it is something beyond imagination that those with hearing trouble perform group dancing.

Dermot Hudson, chairman of the British Association for the Study of Songun Policy and chairman of the Korean Friendship Association UK, said the disabled people in the DPRK lead an independent and creative life with the hope for the future just like other ordinary people.

Benoit Quennedey, vice-president of the France-Korea Friendship Association, said the performances served as an important occasion in making the hostile forces' anti-DPRK "human rights" racket end in failure.

The audience said they were so impressed, the performances were incredible and the level of education of the disabled is so high, adding the performances helped them come to clearly know about the reality in the DPRK. -0-
