Pyongyang, May 10 (KCNA) -- The Seventh Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) closed on Monday.

    The congress discussed its third agenda item "On revising rules of the WPK" and adopted a decision.

    According to the decision, the revised "Rules of the WPK" stipulate that its top post is chairman of the WPK and he is its supreme leader who represents the party and leads the whole party.

    As regards this, secretary of the Central Committee of the party is renamed vice-chairman, chief secretary, secretary and vice-secretary of the provincial, city and county party committees and basic party organizations chairman and vice-chairman and the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee the Executive Policy Bureau and the Secretariat of the provincial, city and county party committees the Executive Policy Office.

    Some chapters and provisions of the present rules of the party and their contents were revised and supplemented as required by the developing reality.

    The congress discussed the fourth agenda item "On electing the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un to the top post of our Party".

    Kim Yong Nam made an address on electing Kim Jong Un to the top post of the WPK.

    He said that Kim Jong Un is the supreme leader of the WPK and the Korean people who is successfully carrying forward and accomplishing the revolutionary cause of Juche which was started in Mt. Paektu and has made a victorious advance.

    He went on:

    The past four years in which the WPK has made the revolution with Kim Jong Un as its top leader have witnessed the continuity of the fiercest confrontation with the hostile forces and have been proud days during which the signal victories and great events to be specially recorded in the history of the nation have taken place one after another despite the worst adversity.

    In this period Kim Jong Un has powerfully demonstrated the dignity and national power of socialist Korea at the strongest level with his outstanding leadership and foiled the hostile forces' vicious moves to stifle it, thus providing a solid foundation for the final victory.

    Unshakable are the firm faith and will of the WPK, the army and the people of the DPRK to win every victory and glory on the road of single-mindedly upholding the idea and leadership of Kim Jong Un.

    Kim Yong Nam courteously proposed the congress to elect Kim Jong Un as chairman of the WPK, reflecting the unanimous will of all Party members, service personnel of the Korean People's Army and people.

    Hwang Pyong So, Jon Yong Nam, Ju Yong Gil, Ri Myong Gil and Thae Hyong Chol, delegates of every provincial party organization, in their speeches fully supported and approved the proposal on electing Kim Jong Un as chairman of the WPK, its top post.

    They expressed their determinations to absolutely trust and follow Kim Jong Un only in any storm and stress and staunchly fight under the leadership of the Party Central Committee in the future, too, just as they had dynamically made long journeys of the revolution following the great leaders.

    The congress elected Kim Jong Un as chairman of the WPK.

    The election of the central leadership organ, the fifth agenda item, took place.

    The congress declared that Chairman of the WPK Kim Jong Un was elected as member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Political Bureau of the Party Central Committee, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Party Central Committee and chairman of the Party Central Military Commission, according to the rules of the WPK and the rules of the election of the supreme leadership organ of the WPK.

    The congress elected the Party Central Committee.

    It, to begin with, nominated candidates for the members and alternate members of the Party Central Committee.

    129 candidates for members and 106 candidates for alternate members of the Party Central Committee were elected members and alternate members of the Party Central Committee with unanimous approval of the delegates.

    The congress elected the Party Central Auditing Commission.

    15 candidates for members of the Party Central Auditing Commission were elected its members with unanimous approval of the delegates.

    The delegates were informed of a decision of the First Plenary Meeting of the 7th Party Central Committee.

    The results of the election of members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau and members and alternate members of the Political Bureau of the Party Central Committee were announced.

    The results of the election of vice-chairmen of the Party Central Committee were announced and it was informed that the Executive Policy Bureau was organized.

    The delegates were informed that the Party Central Military Commission was organized.

    It was informed that department directors of the Party Central Committee and the editor-in-chief of Rodong Sinmun, the organ of the Party Central Committee, were appointed.

    The results of the election of the Control Commission of the Party Central Committee were announced.

    The delegates were informed of a decision made at the First Plenary Meeting of the 7th Party Central Auditing Commission.

    An appeal of the Seventh Congress of the WPK to all service personnel of the KPA, the youth and people "Let us make all-out charge for the complete victory of socialism by launching the Mallima speed campaign!" was announced.

    Kim Jong Un, chairman of the WPK, made a closing address at the congress.

    The Seventh Congress of the WPK held in the presence of Kim Jong Un, the great leader of the WPK and the Korean people, was a significant grand assembly as it marked a historic watershed in the sacred drive to accomplish the great cause of Paektu under the banner of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism. -0-
