Pyongyang, February 12 (KCNA) -- A national meeting of active commanding officers of the Worker-Peasant Red Guards (WPRG) took place at the People's Palace of Culture on Monday.

Attending the meeting were Premier Pak Pong Ju, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and vice-chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Choe Pu Il, minister of People's Security, Ri Man Gon, first vice department director of the C.C., WPK, Kim Nung O, chairman of the Pyongyang City Committee of the WPK, commanding officers at all levels of the Worker-Peasant Red Guards and officials concerned.

Present there were Army General Ri Yong Gil, chief of the General Staff of the Korean People's Army; and officials in the field of armed forces.

At the meeting Ri Man Gon conveyed a letter from Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un to the participants in the national meeting of active commanding officers of the WPRG.

Ri Yong Rae, department director of the Central Committee of the WPK, made a report.

The reporter said that the WPRG which was founded and developed under the care of the peerlessly great persons is the revolutionary armed forces of the WPK which carries forward the revolutionary tradition of the anti-Japanese war.

He said Kim Jong Un, who is adding luster to the immortal exploits President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il performed in the building of the Juche-based militia forces, indicated the way of strengthening the WPRG and ushered in a heyday in the building of militia forces with his energetic leadership.

The Supreme Leader's loving care and trust in commanding officers and members of the WPRG serve as a fundamental source to make the WPRG demonstrate its might as a death-defying corps for defending revolution, native place and the country, the reporter stressed.

He said that in the last five years after the meeting of active commanding officers of the WPRG commanding officers and members of the WPRG prepared themselves for fighters strong in ideology and faith and made innovations in increasing the fighting efficiency by making a vigorous struggle true to the Party's idea of building the Juche-based militia forces.

He called for increasing the fighting efficiency of the WPRG in every way to firmly guarantee the victorious advance of socialism under the leadership of the Party.

Speakers referred to successes and experience gained in the civilian defence field in the past under the leadership of the Party.

The speeches analyzed and reviewed a series of tendencies and shortcomings revealed in the civilian defence work including shortcomings of some commanding officers who do not work in a revolutionary way as required by the developing revolution.

The speakers expressed the firm resolution to bring uninterrupted innovations in the work of WPRG in the spirit of devotedly implementing the Party policies and the fighting spirit of self-reliance in hearty response to the historic letter of Kim Jong Un and thus repay with loyalty the expectations of the Party Central Committee. -0-
