Pyongyang, April 15 (KCNA) -- A national meeting took place at the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium on Sunday to celebrate the 107th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.

It was attended by Choe Ryong Hae, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, first vice chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly: Pak Pong Ju, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, vice chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and vice chairman of the WPK Central Committee: senior officials of the Party and the government, a chairperson of a friendly party, leading officials of the armed forces organs, officials of the Central Committee of the Party, officials of the Cabinet, working people's organizations, ministries and national institutions, men and officers of the Korean People's Army and the Korean People's Internal Security Forces, teaching staff and students of Mangyongdae Revolutionary School and Kang Pan Sok Revolutionary School, officials of institutions and industrial establishments and persons of merits in Pyongyang.

Also present at the meeting were congratulatory groups and delegations of overseas Koreans and overseas compatriots and the chief of the Pyongyang mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front.

Invited there were diplomatic envoys, representatives of missions of international bodies and military attaches of foreign embassies here and foreign guests.

Choe Ryong Hae in a report said that April 15, 1912, the birthday of President Kim Il Sung, was the day of great fortune when the Korean nation greeted the sun of the great people for the first time in its 5 000 year-old history and the significant and historical day that marked a new epoch in accomplishing the human cause of independence.

He referred to the fact that the President embarked upon the road of revolution in his early years and led the revolution and construction only to victory with his rare wisdom, outstanding guidance and noble virtue for several decades, bearing the destinies of the country and people on his shoulders.

He emphasized that the President, who made new history of socialist Korea and ushered in a new era of independence and provided the eternal treasure to the eternal prosperity of the country and nation, would be immortal as the sun of Juche.

He said that the noble patriotic cause of the President had been successfully carried forward and developed by Chairman Kim Jong Il and is now greeting a new historical turning point thanks to the guidance of Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un.

He pointed out that it is the firm will of the WPK and the government of the Republic to build a powerful socialist nation by our own efforts and our own way taking the revolutionary line of independence, the revolutionary mode of self-reliance associated with the careers of the President and the Chairman as the eternal lifeline and cornerstone of the state building.

We will creditably realise the noble patriotic intention and desire of the great leaders so as to surely build a dignified and prosperous reunified country on this land, he pointed out.

He said that the DPRK would continue to boost the unity and cooperation with the socialist countries in the idea of independence, peace and friendship and make positive contributions to ensuring regional peace and security and realizing global independence.

He called for making a dynamic struggle for the prosperity of Juche Korea and accomplishment of the cause of socialism, single-heartedly rallied around Kim Jong Un.

On the same day, meetings also took place in all provinces, cities and counties and industrial complexes to celebrate the 107th birth anniversary of the President. -0-
