The following happened on one October day in Juche 103 (2014),
when Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un saw a demonstration match of the national women’s soccer team at the renovated May Day Stadium.
When the game was over, he asked an official to get Kim Jong who won a gold medal in mixed doubles of table tennis at the 17th Asian Games.
The official hurried to her and told her what the Supreme Leader asked.
She was so surprised that she thought as if in a dream.
Running toward his whereabouts, her heart throbbed with excitement.
At the hall of the stadium she deeply bowed to Kim Jong Un, who greeted her with a benign smile on his face and said: I have recently met the gold medallists and their coaches at the 17th Asian Games and many other world championships to congratulate them and have a photo taken with them.
You were abroad for an international game, so I promised to summon you on other occasion and pose for a camera with you.
The moment she burst into tears at the thought of his great affection for an ordinary sportsperson.
He praised Kim Hyok Bong and Kim Jong are a good pair of ping-pong players, and said to Kim Jong: You have exalted the honour of the country by winning the mixed doubles title at the 52nd World Table-Tennis Championships and then at the 17th Asian Games.
You are laudable, indeed.
I hope your pair will train harder and score better successes at the coming world championships.
He then had a photograph taken with her.
