Pyongyang, October 1 (KCNA) -- The elderly of the DPRK celebrated the International Day of Older Persons.
Art performances for the elderly were given at theatres throughout the country, and colorful sports and amusement games held in recreation grounds and parks. Public catering establishments and welfare service facilities offered special service to many aged persons.
The National Folk Art Troupe gave a performance for elderly persons at the Ponghwa Art Theatre.
Among the audience were O Su Yong, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Yun Kang Ho, minister of Labour and chairman of the Central Committee of the Korea Federation for the Care of the Aged, Cha Hui Rim, chairman of the Pyongyang City People's Committee, war veterans, persons of merit and other aged persons.
Present there on invitation were diplomatic envoys and representatives of the international body missions here.
Put on the stage were male solo "Our Daughter-in-Law", etc.
Performers sang the praises of the happy life of the elderly living their remaining years, being respected as revolutionary forerunners and seniors of society and families under the loving care of the Party and state.
This day aged persons had a wonderful time in the recreation grounds and parks in the capital city.
The sports and amusement games played by elderly persons of Pothonggang District at the Pothonggang Park drew a lot of attention.
The kind services offered by Okryu Restaurant, Chongryu Restaurant, Hyangmanru Restaurant, etc. pleased old persons.
There were colorful activities for the elderly in all the provinces, cities and counties of the country. -0-
