Pyongyang, October 6 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), sent a message of greeting to Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and president of the People's Republic of China (PRC), on October 6.

Kim Jong Un in the message extended the warmest congratulations and friendly greeting in the name of the WPK, the government of the DPRK and the Korean people to the general secretary, and through him, to the CPC, the government of the PRC and all the Chinese people on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the DPRK and China, the holiday common to the peoples of the two countries.

Noting that the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries was an epochal event which heralded the birth of new type DPRK-China relations, the message said for the past 70 years the two parties and the peoples of the two countries have always weathered all tempests while sharing weal and woe with each other in the course of defending and glorifying the cause of socialism and written a history of great friendship admired by the world people.

As there are valuable traditions provided by the preceding leaders, sagacious guidance of the WPK and the CPC and socialism safeguarded by the peoples of the two countries at the cost of their blood, the DPRK-China relations have been consolidated to be special friendship rare to be found in the world, not merely an inevitable conception attributable to geographical conditions, the message said, and went on:

Today the DPRK-China relations have entered a crucial period of carrying forward the past history and carving out a new future, being powered with an engine of ceaseless vitality.

It is the fixed stand of myself and our party and government to steadily carry forward the excellent traditions of the DPRK-China friendship, a valuable asset common to the peoples of the two countries, and to bring about an overall prosperity of the friendly and cooperative relations.

I, firmly holding hands together with Comrade General Secretary, will strengthen and develop the DPRK-China friendship as desired by the peoples of the two countries to be envied by the world, and steadily defend the cause of socialism and preserve peace and stability of the Korean peninsula and the world by dint of friendship and unity.

We are rejoiced as over our own over the fact that the fraternal Chinese people celebrated the 70th founding anniversary of the PRC as a great national jubilee.

I am sure that the Chinese people will certainly materialize the dream of great prosperity of the Chinese nation by overcoming all difficulties and challenges lying in the course of their advance and achieve a decisive victory in the building of socialism with the Chinese characteristics, rallied close around the CPC with Comrade General Secretary at its core.
