According to information available, over 912 000 pieces of equipment were repaired and more than 14 000 pieces were restored across the country in March, the “Lathe No. 26” model machine maintenance month in the DPRK. In the meantime, over 440 000 pieces of tools and some 300 000 spare parts became newly available.
At the same time, an activity for establishing a cultured way of production and life has been pushed, with the result that over 345 000 trees were planted and 14 000 cubic metres of green areas were laid out at workplaces.
The movement for creating Lathe No. 26 model machines is a mass movement for following the example of equipment maintenance and technical management performed by Chairman Kim Jong Il when he took part in a production practice at the Pyongyang Textile Machine Factory as a student of Kim Il Sung University.
The Pyongyang Textile Machine Factory, Rangnang Disabled Soldiers’ Essential Plastic Goods Factory and Pyongyang trolley bus factory are taking the lead in the movement, as befit model units.
