Chairman Kim Jong Il visited a farm in October 1974.
For a long while he watched golden ears of grain swaying in the breeze in its wide fields. He asked its official about its per-hectare rice and corn yields.
Kim Jong Il attentively listened to the reply of the official. He asked the latter in detail how the soil of his farm was enriched, how its fertilization system was established and what the number of its plants was per phyong.
Since he had so far farmed the land by conventional methods the official could not at all answer Kim Jong Il readily and correctly.
Kim Jong Il told the official that his farm could produce much more tons of cereals than at present when it did its work on scientific principles, true to the teachings of President Kim Il Sung and explicated scientific farming methods.
After a while he said that the soil of this locality was bad by no means, that this was the time when crops were cultivated along scientific lines, not in reliance on the sky or the soil and that his farm could double its grain output as against now by engaging in scientific farming as taught by Kim Il Sung. Although it was too late the official was ashamed to reproach himself for complaining that his farm had the bad soil and not sincerely arranging its work.
Afterwards, true to the teachings of Kim Jong Il the farm ameliorated its land and set up its fertilization system properly to meet the requirements of the Juche farming method, thereby considerably boosting its crop yields.
Whenever they think of this the employees of the farm feel grateful to Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il for their guidance and renew their resolve to go all-out for their scientific farm work.
