Pyongyang, May 29 (KCNA) -- Mt Chilbo is one of the six famous mountains in Korea. It has been long called "Hambuk Kumgang" since it is as beautiful as world-famous Mt Kumgang.
This mountain, consisting of Inner Chilbo, Outer Chilbo and Sea Chilbo, has many scenic spots, historical relics, springs and spas along tens of kilometers of main road, nearly 100 kilometers of coastal tourist road, tens of kilometers of branch roads and sightseeing road.
It is the home of Tricholoma matsutake, the best health food.
The mountain is associated with devoted efforts of Chairman Kim Jong Il who had worked heart and soul to provide the people with better recreation grounds.
In June and November Juche 85 (1996) when the country was suffering hardships, he visited the mountain and set forth a task for turning it into a cultural pleasure center.
After then, he toured it on several occasions and indicated such detailed ways for its development as construction of lodging quarters and welfare service amenities, provision of traffic conditions and antipollution measure for sea water, mountain and streams.
Under his energetic guidance, the area of Mt Chilbo was turned into an admirable recreation ground for the people and a world tourist resort. -0-
