KCNA Commentary Blames Japan for Asserting Its "Dominium over Tok Island"

Date: 07/07/2020 | Source: KCNA.kp (En) | Read original version at source

Pyongyang, July 7 (KCNA) -- Shortly ago, a research institute under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan posted on Internet a video clip asserting Japan's "dominium over Tok Island".

The video clip shows an eighty-year-old man alleging that Tok Island is a "territorial part of Japan" while saying he heard from his grandfather several times that he caught fishes around Tok Island in the late 1880s.

It is no more than another fabrication made by the Japanese authorities who are engrossed in their wild ambition to seize Tok Island.

From long ago, Japan has left no means untried to seize Tok Island which has rich marine resources and is of military importance.

This year alone, Japan specified in the diplomatic blue book once again the content that Tok Island is a "territorial part of Japan", expanded the "exhibition of territorial sovereignty" and examined and passed en masse textbooks for middle schools which carry the ridiculous assertion that Tok Island is always the territory of Japan.

Amid the continuous provocative remarks made by politicians, there took place in the Diet a meeting calling for conquering Tok Island, at which such war-thirsty remarks as seizing the island through war were openly made.

Now Japan insists on its dominium over Tok Island, based on an individual's obscure "reminiscent talk" bereft of scientific accuracy and objectivity, which is so ridiculous.

Japan is, indeed, an impudent and shameless robber, as it even resorts to such despicable means to seize our land that has been handed down generation after generation.

The Japanese reactionaries' moves for seizing Tok Island are an unpardonable infringement on the sovereignty of our nation and outrageous violation of historical justice and truth.

Tok Island is an inviolable territory of our nation.

Old geographical books and historical documents of Korea clearly prove that Tok Island is an inalienable territory of Korea and Korea's dominium over it is in full accord with the principle of prior occupation from the viewpoint of international law on territorial acquisition.

Even most historical records of Japan ascertain that Tok Island belongs to Korea, and such historical documents and maps are being opened to the public one after another.

In particular, the "Shimane Notice" No. 40, which Japan puts forth as "scientific warrant" for its dominium over Tok Island", were already proved groundless and illegal.

Japan tries hard to prove the legality of the "Shimane Notice" through the said video clip, but such foolish farce brings only quite adverse result to Japan.

Japan, irrespective of historical facts and principles of international law, has insisted that Tok Island is its territorial part, which aims at instilling in its people the cognizance that Tok Island is the "plundered land", thereby inventing "justification" for overseas invasion and thus realizing the wild ambition for reinvasion it has cherished so far after its defeat in the World War II.

Japan should quit the foolish dream of seizing the territory of Korea by hoodwinking the international community with absurd fabrication, but draw a lesson from its history of invasion and make a sincere apology and reparation for the crimes it committed against the Korean nation, though belatedly. -0-
