Pak Pong Ju Acquaints Himself with Work for Preventing Damage during Rainy Season in Yonbaek Area

Pyongyang, August 8 (KCNA) -- Pak Pong Ju, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), vice-chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and vice-chairman of the C.C., WPK, inspected the Yonbaek Area to grasp the actual performance for preventing damage during this rainy season.

Touring different places of Paechon and Yonan Counties, he underlined the importance for the Party organizations to fulfill their responsibility and role in protecting the crops from flood, heavy rain and storm and engaging in the emergency anti-epidemic push during the season.

The field consultative meetings discussed matters to direct all labor and means to the drainage and healthy growth of crops in the submerged fields and take scrupulous preventive measures to cope with the current weather conditions.

In Chongdan County he called for scrutinizing and taking necessary measures for the security of reservoirs and irrigation canals while establishing observation posts to measure water level and control floodgates in a responsible manner.

He stressed the need to keep pumping equipment in full-capacity operation to restore the damaged farmland as early as possible and to push forward the work for minimizing flood damage, including digging of drainage canals. -0-
