Pyongyang, August 8 (KCNA) -- An organic farming with help of mud snails is widely introduced into farms of the DPRK.

It is an advanced farming method that helps increase the grain output without using chemical fertilizers and agrochemicals in rice culture.

According to an official concerned, this method has been applied to tens of thousands of hectares of rice fields.

North Phyongan Province has increased the number of mud snails every year. Many farms in the province ensure the weeding effect by over 98 percent and improve the physical properties of soil with use of mud snails.

Co-op farms in North Hwanghae Province, too, have increased the rice yield per hectare hundreds of kilograms by applying this organic farming method.

Meanwhile, the Chongsan Co-op Farm in Kangso District of Nampho City and co-op farms in South Hwanghae Province have created favorable conditions for rice growth by increasing the number of mud snails. -0-
