Pyongyang, September 15 (KCNA) -- A matriculation ceremony of Korean University of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) for the academic year Juche 109 (2020) took place at the university hall in Tokyo on Sept. 13.
Attending the ceremony were Pak Ku Ho, first vice-chairman of the Central Standing Committee of Chongryon, Song Kun Hak, its vice-chairman and concurrently director of its Education Department, Kang Chu Ryon, its vice-chairwoman and concurrently chairwoman of the Central Standing Committee of the Union of Democratic Korean Women in Japan, Han Tong Song, rector of the university, Hong Nam Gi, director of the board of trustees of the university, and its teaching staff and freshmen.
Congratulatory messages from the Education Commission of the DPRK, Kim Il Sung University and other universities of the DPRK were read out at the ceremony.
Pak Ku Ho made a congratulatory speech.
He said the university is the dignified overseas university of the DPRK, which is associated with the immortal leadership feats of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il and warm loving care of Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un, adding that it is also associated with the selfless devotion of the patriotic elder generations to the destiny of the movement of Koreans in Japan and the future of the younger generations, and with their lofty spirit.
He expressed belief that the freshmen of the university would prepare themselves to be new type cadres of the nation full of vigor and high intellect, who will successfully carry forward the patriotic movement during their study at the university, by setting high goals and studying hard and thus acquiring special knowledge about cutting-edge science and other fields.
A report was made by Han Tong Song, rector of the university, to be followed by oath-taking speeches.
