Pyongyang, September 16 (KCNA) -- South Hwanghae Province is concentrating efforts on minimizing the damage to crops and eradicating aftereffects of flood by repairing waterways and banks and building new dwelling houses.
The province accelerates the building of dwelling houses by timely supplying necessary equipment and raw materials, while giving priority to increasing yield on flood-hit fields.
With various mobile water pumps, the cooperative farms in Paechon County drained the inundated fields and took measures for healthy growth of flood-stricken crops.
Sinchon and Jaeryong Counties, taking scientific and technological care of maize on the flood-afflicted fields, made efforts for ensuring timely harvest.
Farmers in Chongdan County work hard to increase grain yield by properly fertilizing the flood-hit paddy fields.
Meanwhile, the province successfully removed tens of thousands of cubic meters of earth piled up in Lake Yonbaek Waterway and finished in a short span of time the foundation work, walling and floor construction of new dwelling houses in typhoon-hit areas.
Haeju City and Anak County completed embankment projects to protect and irrigate hundreds of hectares of farmlands. -0-
