Pyongyang, September 16 (KCNA) -- Okryu Restaurant marked its 60th founding anniversary.
The restaurant is a legacy left by President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il for the people and a beloved home at which they feel thankful for the socialist system while being served with Pyongyang cold noodle and delicacies.
Kim Il Sung initiated the plan for building a peculiar public catering establishment on the picturesque bank of River Taedong and named it Okryu Restaurant.
He visited the restaurant, which was built in a magnificent style on August 13, Juche 49(1960), and specified the orientation and way of its service activities after declaring its inauguration.
Chairman Kim Jong Il saw to it that a delicacy house was built after the construction of Moran Restaurant, House No. 1 and House No. 2 of Okryu Restaurant and sent modern kitchen equipment, utensils and fittings.
He made sure that the restaurant is favored by the people for its delicious noodle and delicacies.
For the past 60 years, the restaurant has been renowned as a restaurant favored by people of the DPRK, compatriots in the south and abroad, and as a public catering establishment in which the people enjoy the benefits of socialism.
The Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea sent a congratulatory message to the employees and officials of the restaurant greeting its 60th founding anniversary.
A ceremony for conveying the congratulatory message took place on Sept. 16. -0-
