Pyongyang, September 23 (KCNA) -- Paektusan blueberry is one of the DPRK's specialties.
Blueberry thrives on highlands like the areas of Mt Paektu, Paekmu Plateau and Hwangsuwon.
Paektusan blueberry containing sugar, protein, pectin, etc. is used as raw material for the production of soft drink or confectionery. In particular, this blueberry helps prevent hypertension and arteriosclerosis and is good for the health recovery of children and women as it contains various vitamins and medicinal ingredients.
President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il gave instructions on producing lots of blueberry processed goods for the people, saying that blueberry is a specialty of Mt Paektu and a pride of Ryanggang Province.
Visiting the Samjiyon Blueberry Drink Factory in October Juche 108 (2019), Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un said that drinks and other products based on blueberry, one of specialties of Mt Paektu and Ryanggang Province, should be the ones favored by all the people.
This year Ryanggang Province has supplied a large amount of blueberry to the blueberry processing units.
The Paektusan Blueberry Processing Factory and the Samjiyon Blueberry Drink Factory produce various kinds of foodstuffs and drinks like jam, sweet jelly, fermentation vinegar drink and liquor.
