Pyongyang, September 30 (KCNA) -- Some days ago, a meeting was held in the DPRK to review the socialist emulation for attaining the goals of grain and fruit production in 2020.
Kwail County of South Hwanghae Province took the first place in the emulation of large-scale fruit production units.
Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un visited this county in Juche 106 (2017) to give an instruction on holding fast to the banner of scientific fruit farming.
True to his instruction, the county has generalized the successes and experience for cultivating tasty fruits and put the manuring and tending of fruit trees on a sci-tech basis in recent years, while producing a large amount of huminite, liquid fertilizer and agrochemicals. As a result, it increased this year's apple production 1.5 times more than the last year's.
The county is associated with the immortal feats of the peerlessly great men who had worked heart and soul to supply various fruits to the people every season.
In the period of the Fatherland Liberation War (1950-1953), President Kim Il Sung sent many fruit saplings to the county under a plan for reclaiming its waste lands and hillocks into a large-scale fruit production base. Later, he gave field guidance to the county on several occasions to indicate the ways for the increased fruit production. In September 1993, he visited it again and gave instructions on sprucing up the orchard in a far-sighted way and producing many more fruits for the people.
Visiting the county in April 1971, Chairman Kim Jong Il said that the thriving orchard in the county is a great creation and a precious wealth in the era of Juche, the era of the Workers' Party and that the history of its development and changes is an epitome of the country's history of tremendous changes. He gave field guidance to the county twice in 2001. And in November 2011, the last year of his life, he visited the county again to give vital instructions for bringing about a leaping progress in the development of fruit farming. -0-
