Pyongyang, October 16 (KCNA) -- Workers and members of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea (GFTUK) had a meeting at the Sangwon Cement Complex on Friday to vow to greet the 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea with proud victory by dynamically waging the 80-day campaign in hearty response to the appeal of the great Party.
Attending the meeting were trade union officials in Pyongyang and local areas, officials of the Sangwon Cement Complex, workers and trade union members.
Ju Yong Gil, chairman of the Central Committee of the GFTUK, made a report to be followed by speeches.
The reporter and speakers said that the 80-day campaign is an all-people offensive for successfully concluding the year-end struggle and significantly greeting the 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea and an all-out drive accelerated by the enterprising spirit and assiduity of the workers and trade union members for bringing about greater victories.
They called for consolidating the national emergency anti-epidemic barrier by strictly observing the anti-epidemic rules in any situation, bearing in mind that conceit, slackness, carelessness and indifference are the principal enemy to the emergency anti-epidemic work.
They stressed the need to make tangible contributions to stabilizing the life of the inhabitants in the areas hit by natural disasters as early as possible by building all the dwelling houses and villages in those areas to be happy homes and paradise villages under socialism invulnerable to any calamity, and by waging a brisk drive for increased production and innovation in transport.
They called upon all workers and trade union members across the country to greet the 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea with high political enthusiasm and brilliant labor successes by fully demonstrating to the world once again the mettle of the heroic Kim Il Sung-Kim Jong Il working class in the 80-day campaign.
