Pyongyang, October 24 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun on Saturday says in an article that to exert great efforts on afforestation and water conservancy in every area and unit is an important requirement for thoroughly protecting state and social properties and people's lives and dynamically accelerating the socialist construction.
It is our Party's invariable policy to provide foundations on which our people can enjoy a happy life free from concern generation after generation by further intensifying afforestation and water conservancy, says the article and goes on:
Our country has many mountains and rivers.
If we push aside afforestation and water conservancy with a short-sighted view, we will suffer great damage from it. It is obvious that bare mountains and disarranged rivers can not contribute to the people's living and economic development of the country.
Therefore, our Party has laid down the socialist rural construction as a state policy and is stressing the need to make strenuous efforts for it.
Afforestation and water conservancy are very important as they are the grand nature-remaking work for turning all mountains and rivers of the country into the ones suitable for a powerful socialist country, and a noble patriotic work for providing a rich treasure to posterity.
