Pyongyang, October 24 (KCNA) -- The history and traditions of the Korean nation have been properly inherited in the DPRK under the guidance of the peerlessly great men, who set forth an idea of developing the national heritages from the standpoint of Juche and took steps to discover the hidden relics, remains and folk traditions and add brilliance to them.
One day in Juche 36 (1947), President Kim Il Sung came to know that an appointed site for building of Kim Il Sung University is the earthen wall site of Koguryo Kingdom (B.C. 277-A.D. 668). So, he went to the spot and took a step to move the building site to other place.
The President also guided in detail the work to find out and ascertain the mausoleums of King Tangun, the ancestral father of the Korean nation, King Tongmyong, the founder of powerful state Koguryo that existed in the East for a thousand years, and King Wang Kon, the founder of Koryo, and other famous relics and remains in the country and reconstruct them splendidly and established a regular system for their conservation.
Chairman Kim Jong Il set right the distorted origin of the Korean nation and other problems during his revolutionary activities at Kim Il Sung University.
He authored many famous works to provide guidelines for carrying on the preservation of national cultural heritages as state affairs. It is none other than him who named the title of grand mass gymnastics and artistic performance "Arirang", registered in the Guinness Book of World Records, and completed it wonderfully to demonstrate the spirit and stamina of the nation to the world.
The work to preserve the national heritages in the country has got further intensified under the energetic guidance of Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un.
The Supreme Leader made public a celebrated work "National Heritage Conservation Is a Patriotic Undertaking for Adding Brilliance to the History and Traditions of Our Nation" on October 24, 2014 to indicate the orientation and ways for bringing about a new turn in the preservation of national heritages.
Today, various activities are conducted in the country to encourage and develop the national ways. -0-
