Pyongyang, November 14 (KCNA) — Choe Ryong Hae, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, first vice-chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and president of the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly, acquainted himself with the farming and afforestation and water-conservancy in Jungsan County.
Agricultural workers in Chongsan-ri and Phungjong-ri of Jungsan County brought about a bumper harvest by working hard throughout this year despite unfavorable climate in order to uphold the policy of the Party, which set the agricultural front as a major thrust of the offensive for making a breakthrough head-on, with increased grain production.
He acquainted himself with the farming in ris and stressed the need to finish threshing in a responsible way at the earliest date and thus greet the 8th Congress of the Party with a bumper harvest.
He referred to the ways to thoroughly implement the Party’s policy of afforestation and water-conservancy in the county by creating shelter belts with rapidly-growing trees like Sangwon poplar in conformity with natural and topographical features of seaside region and conducting river improvement and dredging of rivers under a detailed plan.
He, going round the mother tree nursery of the county forestry management station, took measures to put sapling cultivation on a higher scientific, industrial and intensive basis.
