Pyongyang, November 19 (KCNA) -- DPRK gymnast Hong Un Jong bagged a gold medal in the women's vault event of the 29th Olympic Games in Juche 97 (2008).
In the finals, she got 15.650 points, the highest record, striking the gymnastic world with wonder.
At that time, Chinese media reported that Hong Un Jong of the DPRK obtained an Olympic gold medal by defeating her Chinese rival, a hopeful, and she clearly proved the truth that ambition and efforts are sure to bring success.
Hong snatched gold medals at the 45th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, the 3rd Asian Gymnastics Championship, the 25th and 27th Universiads, the 17th Asian Games, the 6th East Asian Games and the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup.
And she proved successful at the 46th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, the 5th Asian Gymnastics Championship and the 15th Asian Games.
She was awarded the title of People's Athlete in 2008.
