Pyongyang, November 24 (KCNA) -- In Tunam-ri of Orang County, North Hamgyong Province of the DPRK, there is a holm-oak with history of over 500 years.
This tree is 18 meters in height, 4.8 meters in girth of lower part and 4.3 meters in girth of middle part, and the diameter of its crown is 19.2 meters from east to west. The tree blooms in May and its fruits ripen in October.
On the way of his field guidance on March 19, Juche 64 (1975), Chairman Kim Jong Il saw the tree at the Tunam Cooperative Farm and said that it is rare and seems to be as old as hundreds of years.
The tree is preserved as a precious living monument of the country. -0-
