Pyongyang, November 29 (KCNA) -- A total of nearly 3 100 000 schoolchildren have conducted extracurricular activities in the Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace for 5 years since its remodeling.
They have acquired deep acknowledge in basic science clubs and science and technology clubs and a lot of schoolchildren have been raised as future artistes and sportspersons in national instrument, Korean dance and art clubs, swimming pool and gymnasium.
Among them are those who presented their creations, collections of writings, songs, art pieces and calligraphic pieces, to Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un.
Some of them received top prize at the Khabarovsk International Children's Art Show held in Russia and were highly appreciated in various competitions and exhibitions including the 6th national pencil drawing festival held in celebration of the Day of the Shining Star.
The palace has a history of besting others in national programming competitions and multi-media making competitions of members of IT clubs of schoolchildren's palaces and halls every year and in this course more than 800 schoolchildren became holders of qualifications of technical skills.
Members of the sports club won more than 1 500 medals in sports games including Taekwon-Do and swimming.
Participants in competitions of folk song among members of art clubs of schoolchildren's palaces and halls and individual art competitions of schoolchildren held in celebration of the Day of the Sun aroused the admiration of professionals with their high artistry.
In more than 200 art performances including the performance of the schoolchildren held in celebration of the 70th founding anniversary of the Korean Children's Union and those for greeting the New Year, they vividly showed the bright and cheerful feature of the schoolchildren who fully enjoy the extracurricular activities. -0-
