Pyongyang, December 22 (KCNA) -- This year witnessed the moving into new houses by a large number of citizens in the DPRK. The house-moving news, reported through media, became a major topic for public conversation.
In August and September, the DPRK suffered big damage from disastrous downpours and flooding and typhoons that hit different parts of the country at one time.
Worrying himself about the misfortune and sufferings in life of inhabitants in the disaster-hit areas, Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un inspected, before anybody else, Taechong-ri in Unpha County of North Hwanghae Province and other disaster-stricken areas in South Hwanghae and South Hamgyong provinces, in defiance of muddy roads. And he indicated the detailed tasks and ways for healing the damage, including the formation of building force to be urgently dispatched to the recovery campaign and provision of designs and building material transport.
Thus, the construction of houses was launched in all disaster-stricken areas at the same time to provide their inhabitants with stable living conditions as early as possible.
Industrial establishments across the country increased the production of cement, steel, timber, furnishings and other kinds of materials needed for the recovery. Meanwhile, the departments of the Workers' Party of Korea Central Committee and the families of officials at its headquarters, and other citizens across the country turned out in a work to assist the inhabitants in the disaster-hit areas.
Thanks to the heroic struggle of civilians and servicepersons with noble spiritual and moral virtues of taking preferential care of those in hardship and always sharing bitters and sweets with each other, new wonderful villages and houses appeared in the disaster-stricken areas.
The first house-moving news was reported from Kangbuk-ri in Kumchon County of North Hwanghae Province on September 17. Following it, disaster-afflicted inhabitants in Kaesong City and Kangwon, North and South Hwanghae, and North and South Hamgyong provinces moved into new houses.
The inhabitants of Kangbuk-ri wrote a letter of thanks to the Supreme Leader, which said:
We are now shedding tears of happiness and emotion at the loving care of the country, which sets it as the top priority state affair to take care of the disaster-affected people and provides ordinary peasants with new houses free of charge, and the loving care of you, the respected Marshal, who spare nothing for the people's wellbeing.
