There was the fourth-day meeting of the Eighth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea on Friday.

The congress proceeded to do its work amid high enthusiasm of loyalty and revolutionary spirit of the participants in the congress who received the report on the work of the Seventh Party Central Committee, which clearly indicated a new orientation of advance of socialist construction, based on the strict summing up of the overall work of the Party and state during the period under review.

When Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the armed forces of the DPRK, appeared at the venue of the congress, all the participants burst into thunderous cheers of "Hurrah!"

Speeches were made on the first agenda item "Review of the work of the WPK Central Committee ".

They were made by Ri Il Hwan, Kim Tok Hun, Pak Jong Chon, Ri Pyong Chol, Ri Son Gwon, Jo Yong Won, Mun Kyong Dok and Pak Chol Min.

The speakers gave full support and approval to the historic report delivered by Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un which fully reflected the scientific line of struggle and strategic and tactical issues of crucial significance in the development of the Party and revolution.

The report on the work of the Party Central Committee will strongly encourage all the Party members, other people and service personnel of the People's Army to a resolute struggle as it is an important guideline clearly indicating the path for enhancing the leadership abilities and fighting efficiency of the Party in every way in line with the urgent requirements of the revolution which has progressed to a new phase of development, and for winning a new victory in Korean-style socialist construction, they emphasized.

The speakers said with excitement that Kim Jong Un illuminated the road ahead as required by the times and developing revolution, wisely led the whole Party, the entire country and all the people to usher in an era of miracle of compressing time and remarkably boosted the DPRK’s own force and strategic position.

They also said that during the period under review, the outstanding leadership ability of the Party Central Committee which leads the Korean-style socialist cause along the road of victory with confidence while breaking through head-on the hardships of history was fully demonstrated, the people’s confidence in the Party grew incomparably as the people-first politics were thoroughly administered in all fields of socialist construction and the single-hearted unity of revolutionary ranks was further cemented.

They referred to the achievements and experiences obtained in the work of their sectors and units for implementing the decisions of the Seventh Congress of the Party and seriously analysed and reviewed the mistakes, their causes and lessons drawn.

They coolly criticized the mistakes in their sectors including the failure to implement the five-year plans for national economic development set forth by the previous Party congress and to actively apply reality-friendly and people-friendly methods in Party work and seriously analysed the lesson that if officials fail to work with responsibility, falling captive to defeatism and self-preservation in the face of hardships, it would be impossible to properly carry out Party decisions and to bring about development and innovation.

Listening to the speeches criticizing and reviewing the failure to make marked progress in their work without taking measures to overcome hardships they faced in the course of advance and to solve problems by their own efforts, the participants looked back on the work in their sectors and units from the standpoint of drawing lessons and in a progressive manner, based on the idea and spirit of the current congress.

The participants were greatly impressed by the speeches that made them realize what height the loyalty to the Party and the revolutionary cause and the attitude as a revolutionary should reach, and fully exchanged opinions on the future innovation and development while earnestly sharing their experience and lessons.

The speakers referred to practical ways to always make strenuous efforts to realize the new ambition and ideal and to push ahead with all work in a scrupulous, creative and forward-looking manner, and made solemn pledges to devote themselves to the Party, revolution, country and people.

The fourth-day meeting of the Eighth Congress of the WPK immensely fired all the participants with revolutionary zeal in keeping with the character of the congress of work, struggle and progress and made them harden their firm faith and steely determination to fulfil their sacred responsibility and duty in the course of implementing the fighting programme set forth in the report on the work of the Party Central Committee.
