Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, sent a congratulatory message to Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, on Monday.
Xi Jinping in the message extended warm congratulations to General Secretary Kim Jong Un and the WPK Central Committee on behalf of the CPC Central Committee and on his own behalf after receiving the glad news that Kim Jong Un was elected as general secretary of the WPK at its Eighth Congress.
The Eighth Congress of the WPK, at which a series of assignments for developing the socialist cause in the DPRK were organized and given, is of weighty importance, he said, noting that Kim Jong Un's reelection as the top leader of the WPK fully shows the trust, support and expectation of all the WPK members and other Korean people for him.
He expressed his belief that the WPK and the Korean people would strive for attaining the goals of socio-economic development and achieve fresh and bigger successes in propelling the cause of Korean-style socialism under the firm leadership of the Central Committee of the WPK headed by the General Secretary with the congress as an occasion.
It is the steadfast policy of the Chinese Party and government to successfully protect, consolidate and develop the Sino-DPRK relations, he stressed, expressing his willingness to safeguard the regional peace and stability, development and prosperity and provide the two countries and the two peoples with greater happiness by strengthening the strategic direction of relations between the two parties and the two countries of China and the DPRK, promoting the development of the socialist cause in the two countries in keeping with a series of important common understandings obtained by the two sides and maintaining the orientation towards political solution to the Korean peninsula issue, together with General Secretary Kim Jong Un under the situation in which the world has entered a period of confusion and changes.
